Edward W. Kotov, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Edward W. Kotov is a cofounder of Midwest Integrative Behavioral Health Center and currently serves on the contributing services faculty at Northwestern University's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He's board-certified in psychiatry and neurology, and brings a thoughtful, science-driven approach to mental health care.

His journey began at the University of Chicago, where he explored how the protein Aggrecan plays a key role in brain and cartilage development. During his time at the Pritzker School of Medicine, he became fascinated by the connection between the mind and body. Psychiatry felt like the perfect path to combine his interests in neuroscience, genetics, and real-life human experience.

Dr. Kotov completed his internship and residency at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. There, he worked at one of the few inpatient units in the country that specializes in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and he trained extensively in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). His experiences with patients and families from all over the U.S. showed him the need for more specialized, integrated care—something that would eventually inspire the creation of Midwest Integrative Behavioral Health Center.

While in Houston, he also trained at Methodist Hospital, DeBakey VA, Texas Children's Hospital, and Ben Taub Hospital—home to one of the largest psychiatric emergency departments in the country. He cared for displaced individuals and families after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, deepening his interest in how stress, trauma, and physical illness intersect with mental health.

Back in Chicago, Dr. Kotov joined the Asher Center at Northwestern University and returned to his research roots. He's been part of several national clinical trials studying mood disorders, cognitive effects of medications, and how emotional perception differs between people with and without bipolar disorder.

Today, Dr. Kotov continues to focus on helping adults and adolescents with mood and anxiety disorders. He's trained in both dynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy and brings a holistic, collaborative approach to care. Whether that involves therapy, medication, or a combination of both, his goal is to create a personalized plan that meets each person's unique needs. He works closely with individuals and families who are ready to take an active role in their healing journey.

Arnold Craig, M.D.

Dr. Arnold Craig is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He also previously served as the Director of the Outpatient Treatment Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he helped shape care for individuals navigating a wide range of mental health challenges.

Originally from the Chicago area, Dr. Craig began his academic journey at Brown University, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He went on to attend Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, graduating in 2002 with distinction and being inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society—an acknowledgment of both his academic excellence and commitment to compassionate care.

After medical school, Dr. Craig completed his psychiatry residency at Northwestern, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. He became board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2006 and has remained actively involved in advancing the field through teaching, mentorship, and ongoing professional development.

Dr. Craig is deeply committed to both his patients and his students. He brings warmth, clarity, and thoughtfulness to his clinical work, often helping people better understand the roots of their emotional struggles and find a path forward. His approach combines evidence-based treatment with an understanding of each individual's unique story and goals. He continues to contribute to the education of future physicians and mental health professionals, and is passionate about expanding access to quality mental health care across communities.

Outside of his academic and clinical roles, Dr. Craig is known for his approachable style, collaborative mindset, and dedication to lifelong learning. Whether he's working with a patient one-on-one or guiding medical students through complex cases, his focus remains the same: delivering care that is insightful, effective, and deeply human.
